Matthew 9:27-30 – “As Jesus left the house, he was followed by two blind men crying out, “Mercy, Son of David! Mercy on us!” When Jesus got home, the blind men went in with him. Jesus said to them, “Do you really believe I can do this?” They said, “Why, yes, Master!”

29-31 He touched their eyes and said, “Become what you believe.” It happened. They saw.” (The Message)

Let’s take a look at this process:

Step 1 – the blind men asked Jesus for mercy.    Obviously, the mercy they were looking for was healing – because the rest of chapter 9 is filled with instances of Jesus healing the sick and raising the dead.    So, the mercy they asked for is healing from their blindness.

Step 2 – the blind men had persistence.   Jesus left the house, they followed him.   When he got home, they went in with him.    We don’t know how far he went or how long he was gone – but they were persistent.

Step 3 – Jesus asked them if they really believed.   Did they really believe that God was capable of doing what they asked?

Step 4 – They reaffirmed their faith that Jesus was capable of doing what they asked for.

Step 5 – Jesus healed them and told them to “become what you believe.”

Become what you believe.

Think about that.

Do you believe that you are a child of God with a  hope and a future?

Become what you believe.

Do you believe you  have “something to offer” to this world and to the people around you?

Become what you believe.

Do you believe that God has a plan in what’s transpiring around you and in you?

Become what you believe.

Do you believe you can make a difference for those around you who are hurting?

Become what you believe.

Do you believe that God has bigger plans for you than you can ever believe?

Become what you believe – and let God push you higher and farther and faster.

Jesus changed the lives of those blind men forever on that day.

He did it because they believed in him.

He challenged them – become what you believe.

And their world was never the same…….

How about you?
