They got a pay raise. Good for them. But wait a minute, their pay raise was $.25 a day. Not per hour, per day.

From personal experience, the cost of living in Haiti is comparable to the US in many ways. But their minimum wage goes up to only $5 per day. That’s less than minimum wage for almost two weeks in the US.

“President Jovenel Moise said late Thursday that the minimum pay will rise from the current level of 300 gourdes ($4.75) per day to 350 gourdes ($5).
